Our high performance underwater acoustic recorders DORI

Discover our high performance underwater acoustic recorders: DORI

High acoustic performance, large storage capacity and low power are our three key words. Abyssens offers a line of underwater acoustic recorders with more than 110 dB of dynamic range, listening up to 200 kHz and with a maximum storage capacity up to 16 TB. Whether your need is occasional short listening or long-term monitoring, coastal or deep sea, an adapted design with an optimized price awaits you among the models below.

All the sea soundscape at your doorstep! Two frequency ranges are available and offer you a complete listening range of the underwater soundscape. In fact, they allow you to listen many types of acoustic sources such as biological sounds from snapping shrimps to the vocalizes of marine mammals, as well as human sounds from ship radiated noises to offshore works. Thanks to a self noise below sea state zero and a high dynamic range, ambient noise can be monitored together with high level sources.

All is included!

Hydrophone, One set of alkaline cells or Rechargeable battery with charger, Storage, Pressure relief valve, DaViS software, Accessory kit

A modular line of underwater acoustic recorders

The DORI line :
  • 4 Models
  • 3 Power approaches
  • 2 Frequency versions
Options
  • Remote hydrophone
  • Temperature sensor
Our underwater acoustic recorders DORI differ according to several criteria:
  • First, the model of the recorder reflects the autonomy of the device, and is in adequacy with available energy and the maximum storage capacity. It is indicated by the letter: XS-S-M-L. The S model if for short deployments (15 days), the M model for medium deployments (3 months) and the L model for long deployments (6 months).
  • Secondly, the type of internal power used: internal air transportable rechargeable lithium battery or alkaline cells (C and D). It is indicated by the letter: c-b.

Note that the XS version is powered by an external source and does not have an internal battery. It is thought to be integrated aboard vehicles such as ROV, AUV or gliders thanks to its very small size. It can also be used as a wired observatory with a cable on request.

The target frequency range is divided into two categories for all models:

  • Low Frequency LF, equipped with an HTI96 MIN Low noise hydrophone: 2 Hz – 30 kHz,
  • High Frequency HF equipped with an HTI99UHF hydrophone: 2 Hz – 250 kHz (allows click detection from marine mammals including the harbor porpoise).

An optional remote hydrophone option is available.

In addition, an optional external temperature sensor is available.

Easiness, efficiency and reliability are our priorities

Clean and safe access to SD cards and energy

DORI design features an opening with a clean and protected access to the SD cards and the internal battery or alkaline cells without any contact with the electronics. Therefore you can enjoy a fast, clean and safe SD cards and alkaline cells change directly on the boat if needed! You can take advantage of the maximum data download speed of your computer by direct SD card access.

Easy to use and safe design

To ensure the safety, a pressure relief valve is present on all systems. In addition, an optional vacuum kit is available. The kit allows you to test the watertightness of the device before deployment. This kit is compatible with all DORI recorders.
No cables are needed for configuration. You can use your smartphone or your laptop to access the recorder configuration directly in the field using WiFi without opening the recorder. To start the recording, nothing easier! No cables or magnets needed, you just have to turn on the selector to record position. Last recording configuration is automatically launched.

DaViS : DAta VIsualization Software

A post treatment dynamic visualization of the data is possible with the dedicated software: DaViS. It displays the spectrogram, the temporal evolution of Sound Pressure Level (SPL), the Power Spectral Density and the third octave band levels. In addition, this software allows an audio listening. This software is compatible with windows and free of charge (supplied with any recorder).
